چکیده
Light is a common source of energy in sustainable technologies for photocurrent generation. To date, such light-harvesting applications, the excited electrons generate photocurrent. Here, we introduce new mechanism generation that based on state proton transfer (ESPT) photoacids and photobases can donate or accept proton, respectively, but only after excitation. We show formed ions following ESPT either serve as electron donors acceptors with electrodes, modify kinetics mass transport across diffuse layer, both resulting further control current polarity obtained by switching irradiation between photoacid photobase. Our study represents approach photoelectrochemistry introducing processes, which be utilized light-responsive production storage.

Excited-state proton transfer: from constrained systems to "super" photoacids to superfast proton transfer.
We have used knowledge of the electronic structure of excited states of acids to design molecules that exhibit enhanced excited-state acidity. Such "super" photoacids are the strongest reversible photoacids known and allow the time evolution of proton transfer to be examined in a wide array of organic solvents. This includes breaking/formation of the hydrogen bonds in hundreds of femtoseconds, ...

Steady-state and time-resolved techniques were employed to study the excited-state proton-transfer (ESPT) rate of two newly synthesized 8-hydroxy-1,3,6-pyrenetrisulfonate (pyranine, HPTS) derived photoacids in three protic solvents, water, methanol and ethanol. The ESPT rate constant k(PT) of tris(1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoropropan-2-yl)-8-hydroxypyrene-1,3,6-trisulfonate, 1a, whose pK(a)* ~ -4, in w...
متن کاملHydrogen Bonds in Excited State Proton Transfer.
Hydrogen bonding interactions between biological chromophores and their surrounding protein and solvent environment significantly affect the photochemical pathways of the chromophore and its biological function. A common first step in the dynamics of these systems is excited state proton transfer between the noncovalently bound molecules, which stabilizes the system against dissociation and pri...
متن کاملElementary steps in excited-state proton transfer.
The absorption of a photon by a hydroxy-aromatic photoacid triggers a cascade of events contributing to the overall phenomenon of intermolecular excited-state proton transfer. The fundamental steps involved were studied over the last 20 years using a combination of theoretical and experimental techniques. They are surveyed in this sequel in sequential order, from fast to slow. The excitation tr...
